Premise:

When Jane Quimby sought out a part-time after school job, the last thing she ever expected was to land a plum job as an assistant to fashion legend Gray Chandler Murray. Since nobody at her job knows that Jane is really a high school student, she is forced to live a double life as she attends school for part of the day before returning to her challenging job -- something she would never be able to accomplish without the help of her very best friend Billy.

Of course no job in the fashion industry comes without at least one antagonist and in this case that would be India Jourdain, who is determined to not only steal Gray's job out from under her, but to ruin Jane's life one way or another.

When is it on?:

Tuesdays at 9pm ET. Like most of the series on ABC Family (Pretty Little Liars and The Lying Game for example), Jane By Design airs their seasons in two parts -- one in the summer and then the other in the winter. The latest episodes can be viewed on ABC Family's Jane By Design Website.

Trivia:

• The series is filmed in Santa Clarita, California.
• The Birkin bag Gray gave to Jane may have been authentic, but it was only a temporary prop on the show. The Birkin bag even had its own handler -- not surprising considering one of these bags can cost tens of thousands of dollars.
• Immediately following the end of ABC's long-running drama Desperate Housewives, Terry Hatcher signed on to recur on the show as Jane's mother.

• The series was originally titled What Would Jane Do?
• Does the premise sound familiar? There was a 1991 movie titled Don't Tell Mom the Babysitters Dead starring Christina Applegate about a high school girl who is mistaken for an adult and hired to be an assistant for a high level executive in a fashion company.

About Erica Dasher (Jane):

Before landing her role in Jane By Design, Erica starred in a web series titled The Lake. Her role in the show is her first starring role on a television series.

About Andie MacDowell (Gray):

Golden Globe nominated actress Andie MacDowell has been a fixture in Hollywood for many, many years. She has starred in some of the most memorable movies which include Four Weddings and a Funeral, Groundhog Day (one of my personal favorites), St. Elmo's Fire, Multiplicity, Michael and Bad Girls. Her role in Jane By Design is her first starring role in a television series. In addition to her long acting career, Andie has also been the face of L'oreal Paris for many years.

Before 'Jane By Design':

ABC Family has been known to launch the careers of their young cast members, so it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that other than Andie MacDowell and recurring star Teri Hatcher, the majority of the Jane By Design cast hasn't had much experience in the acting world -- a fact that will surely change in the years to come!

Nick Roux (Billy Nutter): Starred in a couple of episodes of Wizards of Waverly Place and The Suite Life on Deck.

India de Beaufort as India Jordain: Had a recurring role in the CW's One Tree Hill as Miranda Stone. Before coming over to the United States, she also starred in The Basil Brush Show.

David Clayton Rogers as Ben Quimby: David has had a number of guest starring role in dramas such as Shark, Ghost Whisperer and Grimm, to name a few. He is also starring in the upcoming drama H+.
