A low protein diet reduces stress on the kidneys. Low protein diets are also used to treat liver diseases, renal failure and disorders of the urea cycle, amino acids and metabolism.
- The best way to achieve low protein is to reduce the regular amount of protein in the diet, by consuming less and making smaller portions seem equally satisfying.
