What Does the Yarrow Plant Use to Grow?

8

    Water

    • Yarrow plants are extremely drought-tolerant, requiring little water to grow successfully. Over-watering the plants can cause the roots to rot.

    Sunlight

    • Yarrow plants flourish in locations with a large amount of sunlight. Yarrow seeds also require sunlight in order to germinate, and they should be placed in the top ¼-inch of the soil when planting.

    Nutrients

    • Yarrow plants do not require additional fertilizers, and they can grow in soils with low nutrient value. Poisoning can occur if nutrient levels in the soil are too high.

    Carbon Dioxide

    • Like all plants, the yarrow plant uses the process of photosynthesis to convert carbon dioxide into sugars which are used for energy. This is an essential part of the plant's growth.

    Stakes

    • In domestic environments, yarrow plants often require staking in order to protect them from wind. Shorter varieties are available which do not suffer from this problem.
