The Best 30th Birthday Games

13

    Chubby Bunny

    • Bring back a childhood party favorite and play Chubby Bunny. Sit guests in a circle and instruct everyone that they will be given marshmallows but that they cannot chew or swallow any of the them. Place a trash bag in the center of the circle.

The guest of honor starts the game by putting a marshmallow in his mouth. Then he says, "chubby bunny." The bag of marshmallows is passed clockwise and the next guest follows suit. When the bag of marshmallows returns to the guest of honor, he puts another marshmallow in his mouth, while keeping the first marshmallow there. He repeats "chubby bunny," and the game continues in this fashion. If a guest cannot say "chubby bunny," the player loses and can spit out his or her marshmallows into the trash bag. A guest is free to give up at any time. The player who can hold the most marshmallows in his mouth and say "chubby bunny" wins.

    Name That Tune

    • Take a musical trip in time with a game of Name That Tune. Create a CD of 30 songs, one from each year the birthday girl has been alive. Divide guests into several teams and give each team a buzzer or bell.

The DJ begins the game with a song clip from the birthday girl's birth year. The DJ calls on the first team to ring in. If that team correctly identifies the song, it scores 1 point. If the team incorrectly guesses the tune, another team gets a chance to ring in and guess the song. Once a team correctly names the tune or after 30 seconds have passed, the DJ announces the next year and plays the next clip. After all 30 song clips have been played, the team with the most points wins.

    Celebrity

    • Test everyone's pop culture knowledge with a game of Celebrity. Divide guests into teams of two partners each. Give each team 20 pictures of stars of film, TV, music, politics, sports and current events. Make sure each team has a different set of 20 pictures. Teams play one at a time.

Partner 1 grabs the first picture from his stack and puts the picture on his forehead for everyone to see. Partner 2 then describes the celebrity without saying any part of the celebrity's name. Partner 1 tries to guess the celebrity. If Partner 1 correctly guesses the celebrity's name, the team scores 1 point and it moves on to the next picture. If Partner 1 cannot guess the celebrity, he can move on to the next picture and, if there is time, come back to it later. The round ends after 1 minute. The game continues in this fashion until every team takes a turn. The team with the most points wins.
