House training puppies can be a difficult task, but not impossible.
Dogs are very smart and they can be trained fairly easily if you know what you are doing.
When you get a new puppy, one of the first things that you will want to do, is to house train them.
This is very important because it will keep your house clean.
This is also important because this training will build one of the first bonds that you have with your dog.
You will want to show your puppy that you are clear and consistent in your teaching.
If you are unpredictable, or frightening, this will make it much more difficult to train them.
They will not trust you.
It is very important that you build a good solid bond of trust and understanding with your puppy early on.
House training puppies can also be a bit time consuming.
See an easy way to build trust and confidence with your dog, is to go with them outside when you want them to go potty.
Like I said, this may seem time consuming, but it is worth it.
What you will want to do is to stand outside with him, in the general area that you want him to go potty.
Once he goes, you want to make a big fuss over him and reward him with a treat.
Reward him right away so that he can make the connection of why he is being rewarded.
If your puppy does not go potty within five minutes of being outside, try to encourage him to go by using training words.
Something that has worked for me is to say 'Do your business.
' This way he will begin to associate that word with going potty.
If he still does not go, then let him back inside.
You want to watch him closely, though, because he will soon need to go.
You want to keep a close eye when house training puppies because every time your puppy performs the right behavior and is rewarded, he is that much closer to learning the right behavior.
Most importantly, never hit your dog if he makes a mistake.
This will only cause him to be frightened of you and will not teach him anything.
Just stay patient and consistent.
Remember to reward his good behavior, and you are on your way to a well trained puppy.
