Is the Economy Determining Your Commitment to Success?

10
I had a conversation with a man who claimed he was interested in building his own business but when I shared with him that this did require some monetary and time investment, he claimed he couldn't 'do it right now'.
He responded with a series of excuses, with the frequent go-to of 'the economy'.
He said he 'maybe' could do it in 6 months.
Now don't get me wrong, I know a lot of people don't have a lot of money hanging around ready to immediately invest in a business.
But I already had a feeling that this man was not going to be pursuing entrepreneurship anytime soon.
I heard something more behind what he wasn't saying: he wasn't committed to do what it takes to ensure his success and turn his life around.
And, like too many people, he was blaming his circumstances on the economy, denying that he had any control over his situation.
I find there are two kinds of people in this world: those that ride the 'herd mentality' of society and those that swim against the tide.
Those that succumb to the media, sell all their stocks and don't make any drastic moves until the 'economy gets better' and those that look at the 'poor economy' as an opportunity.
The latter know how to become rich in a 'bad economy'.
They don't turn on the news and are committed to success, their vision and goals, despite the outside circumstances.
Try this on: a 'bad economy' doesn't exist.
It is only 'bad' if you choose to view it that way.
To view our economy as something that limits us is a viewpoint of scarcity.
Do not give it permission to get in the way of your goals.
Do not let it get in the way of your commitment to success and building your business.
If anything, this is the perfect time to be an entrepreneur - it is small businesses and entrepreneurs that pump in money to our economy and improve it.
As an entrepreneur you don't have to live in fear of being 'laid off' or losing your 401K - you are in complete control of your destiny.
Moreso, are you WILLING TO DO WHAT IT TAKES? The most successful entrepreneurs are the ones that are committed and take immediate action.
Are you going to wait '6 months' to see if 'things get better' in the economy, for that one day when it will be perfect timing for you to make your move? What else are you putting on hold in your life? I'm not saying quit your job and leave your family without income but if I told you it cost, say $400 for a life-saving surgery for a loved one, you would find that $400 pretty darn fast, right? Would you say 'oh, I'll see in 6 months'? Didn't think so.
So why do that with starting your business? The key here is money and opportunity arrives when you have the drive and commitment to pursue it.
So, really, what ARE you waiting for? The economy sure isn't waiting for you.
