Seattle Rep’s Writers Group Accepting Applications for 2014-16 Cycle

37

Attention all future Seattle-area bards and theatrical geniuses! Applications for Seattle Rep’s 2014–2016 Writers Group class are now open through July 15, 2014. The Seattle theatre announced recently that up to five local writers will be awarded two-year residencies, during which they will receive a modest stipend, attend bi-weekly group meetings, have access to Seattle Rep resources, receive complimentary tickets and invitations to Seattle Rep productions, workshops and other special events, and receive one staged reading of a full-length play per year.

Those selected will join playwrights Holly Arsenault, Lisa Halpern, Brendan Healy, Arlitia Jones, and Bryan Willis, who will participate in the second year of their residency in 2014–2015.

To be eligible, playwrights must live within commuting distance of Seattle for at least 10 months out of the year (September–June). Any applicant willing to commute to Seattle Rep for meetings twice a month will be considered.

The applications must be received by midnight on July 15, 2014.

Seattle Rep is interested in fostering the talent of Northwest playwrights at all stages of their careers. The Writers Group program provides a structure for playwrights to challenge, encourage and motivate each other. All writers regardless of their level of professional experience are invited to apply.

More information about the Writers Group, as well as application forms for the new cycle, is available online at www.seattlerep.org/WGS.
