What’S Your Ideal Scottish Holiday?

14
Scotland is one of those rare places that manages to be many different things at once, making it a destination that appeals to travellers of all ages, social classes, budgets and nationalities.Scotland is considered by many to be the top place in the United Kingdom to practice adventure sports, with many adrenaline rush-seeking outdoor types rushing each year to regions such as Perthshire, at the heart of Scotland, and the Cairngorm National Park, in the Highlands of the country, to practice everything from cliff-jumping (the mere mention of which sends shivers up my spine and sends my head reeling, and not in a pleasurable way), climbing (slightly less terrifying for this vertigo-sufferer); canoeing (that's more like it); white water rafting and lake swimming (now we're talking). For adventurous types on long or short breaks Scotland is a hugely popular destination, but the country also has plenty to appeal to those looking for a more peaceful and relaxed break.
The beautiful historic city of Edinburgh is the first port of call for many first-time visitors to Scotland, and its mixture of the old and the new is certainly something to be savoured. Visitors can stay in a tiny bed and breakfast or a sleek business hotel, shop at high street bargain stores or in exclusive boutiques, and dine on fish and chips or on high end cuisine. The choice is entirely up to the visitor and their tastes and/or budget.
Perthshire is another popular destination for visitors to Scotland, and not just among the adrenaline-loving types who flock to 'Scotland's Adventure Capital'. Hotels in Perthshire welcome visitors of all ages and all activity levels, with the gorgeous countryside of this part of the country making a wonderfully scenic backdrop for anything from ponytrekking or fishing to golf or mountain biking. The opportunities for something a little more adrenaline-pumping are boundless too, with the rugged terrain of jagged cliffs, thick forest, towering mountains and fast-flowing rivers all offering almost limitless potential to test your mettle in this part of the British Isles.
Scotland is a country that, while it is small in size and scale, is huge in terms of the number of different holiday experiences that can be enjoyed here. A holiday in Scotland can be anything from relaxed and laidback - there are some wonderful spa resorts in Scotland - to fast paced and exciting, it all depends on where and when you go, and with whom. No matter where you choose to take your break in Scotland, you are sure to want to come back again to see more of this most beautiful of countries.
