    History

    42RH Gear Ratio

    • The gear ratios for the 42RH are: 2.74:1 for first gear; 1.54:1 for second; 1.00:1 for third; and 0.69:1 for fourth gear.

    46RH Gear Ratio

    • The 47RH gear ratios are: 2.45:1 for first gear; 1.45:1 for second; 1.00:1 for third; and 0.69:1 for fourth gear.

    Manual Gear Ratio

    • The six-speed manual gear ratios are: 5.63:1 for first gear; 3.38:1 for second; 2.04:1 for third; 1.39:1 for fourth; 1.00:1 for fifth; and 0.073:1 for sixth gear.

    Automatic Differences

    • A different version of the 47RH automatic, the 47RE, featured an electronically controlled governor instead of the 47RH's standard hydraulic-controlled governor.

    Applications

    • The four-speed automatics were standard equipment on Dodge Rams with V-6 and V-8 engines. The six-speed manuals could be ordered for 5.9-liter Cummins diesel and 8-liter V-10s.
