Cruises Attract Celebrity Fans

When I picked up a copy of the Daily Mail I was surprised to see that Alesha Dixon had declared her love for cruises. I remember the moment when I realised that cruises were the perfect way to holiday; I imagine Alesha had the same moment of epiphany.

Alesha decided to go on the Sapphire Princess on a nine-day voyage along the Mexican coastline, which is a very popular cruise destination. The scenery along the Gold Coast is astounding and the tourist friendly ports win the hearts of many travellers. Like several other cruises, she had to fly to America to board the ship.

When she describes her first day on the ship, "We left port and I breathed in a lungful of sea air, I couldn't help asking myself: 'What took you so long to try it?'" I wonder if this philosophy applies to many of the younger generation taking their first cruise. They have all seen the film Titanic and appreciated the grandeur of the ships, but until they take their first step onto the cruise liner, they will not really understand why cruise ships are so appealing.

Later in the article she proclaims her love for the lifestyle that cruises offer. She describes the "village" like atmosphere and the friendly staff. Like many people infected with the cruising bug Alesha will probably return again and again to the cruise lines, always looking for the perfect route or ship. Many cruise enthusiasts spend years trying out the many routes and services, in the end finding the perfect cruise for them.

In the same article she talks about her previous thoughts about cruises, "I had always thought cruises were strictly for grannies - mainly because own grandmother, Clem, loves them." This demonstrates the attitude of the younger generation toward cruises, but this is changing. Especially with families, ships somehow seem safer than normal holiday locations. Many young families are turning to cruises after unsuccessful package holidays.

Alesha isn't the only celebrity cruise fan there are several other celebrities who have been spotted on cruises, including: Judith Chalmers, Terry Wogan and apparently Rod Stewart. This publicity along with the endorsement of Alesha Dixon will inevitably attract all generations to the cruises. Just like cruises Alesha has changed her public image, from teen singer to dancing show diva with appeal across the generations.

Let's hope that cruises manage their transition as smoothly as Alesha. But let's face it, in the end we are all CruiseLineFans at heart.
