Fisher House Foundation Heroes' Legacy Scholarships


The Fisher House Foundation offers scholarship assistance to the dependent children of disabled veterans through the Heroes' Legacy Scholarships. These scholarships are awarded in various amounts annually, depending on available funds. To be eligible, a dependent child must be unmarried, must be under the age of 23, and must have a grade point average of at least 2.5 on a scale of 4.0. In addition, an applicant's parent must have been wounded after September 11, 2001. The annual application deadline is May 1.

Hope for the Warriors Spouse/Caregiver Scholarship


The organization Hope for the Warriors offers tuition assistance to the spouses of disabled veterans through its Spouse/Caregiver Scholarship. These scholarships are awarded in the amount of $5,000 per year, and may be renewable for a total award of $20,000. To be eligible, an applicant must be the spouse or primary caregiver of a wounded combat veteran, and must have a grade point average of at least 2.6 on a scale of 4.0. This scholarship will pay for study at the bachelor's or master's level. The annual deadline for application is April 13.

ThanksUSA Scholarship Program


The organization ThanksUSA ofers annual tuition assistance to both the spouses and dependent children of veterans who have been wounded in action since September 11, 2001. Recipients of the ThanksUSA Scholarship may receive up to $3,000 toward the cost of tuition. To be eligible, an applicant must be either the spouse of a veteran or dependent child of age 23 and under. An applicant must also have a grade point average of 2.0 or higher on a scale of 4.0. The annual deadline for application is May 15.

Grantham University Military Severely Injured Scholarship and Family Tuition Assistance


Grantham University is an online institution that offers tuition assistance to the spouses and dependents of disabled veterans through its Military Severely Injured Scholarship. Through this program, the spouses and dependent children of severely wounded veterans may be eligible for a discounted rate of tuition ($250 per credit hour) and may also be eligible for a grant that covers the cost of required textbooks and software. This scholarship may be applied for at any time.
