The Benjamin Franklin House in London, England is a much-visited tourist attraction because it details the life and times of its famous inhabitant Benjamin Franklin.
Apart from his role as a civic leader in the United States, Benjamin Franklin was a respected scientist, inventor, philosopher and a statesman.
Despite his contribution to many spheres of great importance, Franklin remained a humble man to dying breath.
Among his well known inventions are the Franklin stove, which revolutionized cooking during his era, the lightning rod and the bifocals that many of us take for granted today.
Benjamin Franklin's ancestry can be traced back Northamptonshire in England on his paternal side, while his mother is said to have been born in Boston, Massachusetts.
He grew up in Boston but moved to England for work as a typesetter at a printing press, the Franklin House in Trafalgar Square, London was his chosen place of residence for the next sixteen years.
The house has been preserved so that it maintains its authenticity, such care has been put into its maintenance that even today the original floorboards, ceilings and fireplaces remain intact.
In order to help its visitors understand the life of Benjamin Franklin better, the trustees of the house have organized a theatrical performance that runs daily.
This performance done by actors dressed in clothes dating back to the 17th century, is a rundown of the day to day activities that Benjamin Franklin engaged in while he was residing at London.
