Getting to Know Your Child
Getting to know your child is probably the easiest task there is. Just by observing what your child does in his daily life, you get a fair amount of idea about his behavior, what interests him, and predict which field he might be able to achieve most success at. The process becomes a lot easier if you keep track of your child's life.
Keeping aside the obvious ways of getting to know your child, one very important way of going about that is to bond with your child on a day-to-day basis. Just by talking to your child in a way that he does not feel threatened by it, you can get to know so much about your child. If you start treating him like your best friend in that regard, he will start treating the same way, more or less, and will start opening up to you about details that he otherwise would hesitate on telling you. The hesitation usually happens when you have an authoritarian way of dealing with your children.
Be their Best Friend:
Being their best friend does not necessarily mean that you give them the freedom to do whatever they want. You would obviously have to set parameters and boundaries for your children so that they do not end up doing something reckless. This just simply means that you treat them in a way that makes them open up to you more easily, and they do not feel threatened by you.
Most children would rather hide certain details of their lives from their parents because they think their parents would not understand, or would not appreciate them doing those things. They also fear that they will get punished for those acts. In reality, however, that should not be the case. Parents should look forward to them sharing these details because that is the best way to know your child inside out, and the best way to keep them safe. An authoritarian rule over your children will get you nowhere in terms of keeping them healthy, safe and grounded.
Note down Important Details:
This is a very important aspect of helping your child progress smoothly through life. Noting down important details of your child's life is a part of organized parenting, and helps you keep track of what your child is doing and how well he is doing in his daily life. If you want to make an organized plan for your child's future, you can achieve that by nothing down these important details in an organized manner. You can use these for future references later on and this way, you will never forget the most important moments.
Your child will probably have a lot of experiences while growing up. If you are there to help out, he will have a chance to explore even further and discover so many things. All a child needs is a push. Let him figure the rest out on his own.
