As a parent, there is an enormous responsibility to provide a safe, loving environment for a child.
As the primary care giver, it is up to parents to create this.
So what happens when this isn't the case? What happens when a toddler isn't nurtured? The child may be starved for affection.
When a child lacks a nurturing environment, they will become starved for affection.
They may act out, in an attempt to get attention, because it's the only way they know how.
A toddler that is emotionally neglected will display their desperate attempts to gain affection in whatever way possible.
The toddler may become more aggressive as he grows older.
Toddlers who aren't nurtured often tend to become more aggressive as they grow older.
The develop a defensive internal mechanism that begins to block off their feelings because they do not know how to properly express themselves.
She may become bored more easily.
If a toddler does not receive nurturing mental stimulation, she may become bored very quickly.
As she grows older, she might even be labeled as "hyperactive" because she darts from one thing to another and cannot sit still for very long at one time.
The root of her boredom, however, could possibly be a symptom of having not received enough nurturing as a toddler.
As you can see, it is important that every toddler grows up in a nurturing environment.
Even though parenting is not easy, there are huge rewards in raising strong, healthy children in a safe, loving setting.
