Name of Corbett National Park derived from the name of famous hunter, writer and trekker Edward James Corbet of British India known by a nickname Jim. Jim Corbett was an officer of British Army and born in Nainital on 25 July 1875. He is famous only because of hunting of Panthers and Tigers who became man-eaters. A Tiger reserve in the Nainital and Pouri districts of Uttarakhand established to commemorate the great hunter Sir Jim Corbet and to provide a safeguard to endangered species, the tiger from unauthorized hunting. This tiger reserve is one of the oldest wildlife sanctuary and tiger reserve in the country. Total area of this park is over 1287 sqkm. This is a marvelous area and a trip to this place is unforgettable. Not only Jim Corbett National Park but also surrounding is also very attractive because of located in the close vicinity. Garjia Temple
This temple located at 14 Kilometers from Corbett towards Ranikhet district. During Kartik Poornima, a grand festival celebrated at this temple. Connectivity to this place is better through roads.

Nainital
Nainital is located at 66 kilometers from Corbett National Park. Average altitudinal location of this park is 1938 meters from mean sea level. Nainital has a beautiful lake inside the city, which most liked by the visitors for boating purposes. The lake is of the shape of an eye and perhaps the reason behind naming of the city. Nainital well connected from other nearby cities of the state with roads. Other attractive lakes of this station are Bhimtal, Khurpatal and Sattal. Natural beauty of Nainital always attracted many visitors towards this city.
Ranikhet
Ranikhet is located at 90 kilometers from Corbett National Park. This beautiful hill station falls in the jurisdiction of Almora city. Elevation of this hill station is 1869 meters from MSL. This station is a military station too and used for Kumaon Regiment of Indian Army. From this place, one can view the snow capped hill peaks of great Himalaya. Connectivity has no issues at this place.

Bhimtal
Bhimtal located at just 84 kilometers from Corbett and having an average altitudinal location at 1375 meters from mean sea level. Inside the lake, there is a little island too and centre of attraction. This place is one of the best places to celebrate weekends.

Kalagarh Dam
Kalagarh Dam located at 9 kilometers from Corbett National Park. Road connectivity to this dam is very good right from Corbett National Park. This is an old dam, which was isolated due to very reasons but presently is one of the main attractions around Corbett.
Rampur
Rampur located at a distance of 125 kilometers from Corbett national Park. Rampur is a city falls in the jurisdiction of Uttar Pradesh. A library at this place has unique collection of more than 12,000 books (Manuscripts) of medieval period. Daggers of this city have worldwide fame.
