A Leaking Swimming Pool Liner
- Locate the source of the liner leak. Walk around the perimeter of the pool and examine any area that is noticeably wet, indicating a leak. If you fail to detect a leak outside, weak goggles and examine the liner for tears from underwater. Mark any tear with a grease marker. If you cannot detect any visible damage, eject dark food coloring from a syringe or eye dropper into the pool. The leak in the pool liner draws the food coloring toward it. Mark the point on the liner where the coloring disappears into the liner.
- Measure the tear in the pool liner and cut a round piece of liner patch from the pool liner kit with sharp scissors. Cut the patch 2 inches larger than the size of the leak in the liner so it covers it all around. Clean the liner around the leak with a mild detergent if possible.
- Spread a thin layer of glue to the back of the patch cutout before spreading it over the tear in the liner. Press it outward from the center to eliminate any trapped air bubbles. Let the patch dry for 48 hours.
