Motivational Bulletin Board Ideas

    Quotes and Positive Affirmations

    • Quotes and positive affirmations are always a great way to motivate. There are quotes and affirmations that will reach out and touch most people at some point. One idea for this type of bulletin board is to post a new quote or affirmation weekly or daily. Choose a quote or affirmation that will be relevant to the activity or work that is being done. At the beginning of the day get everyone to read the quote or affirmation and apply it to his or her life. Use die-cut letters to make it interesting or change the background behind the affirmations or the quotes based on the month or season to keep it a relevant point of communication and motivation.

    Posting Positive Examples

    • Everyone likes to see their name "in lights," and a bulletin board allows your students or employees to do just that. Each week, choose a student or employee of the week. Put a photo of the person up on the board along with his or her name and accomplishments. The accomplishments could simply be a well-written paper or landing a new client. Seeing the names of their peers on the board will push others to try harder to get their own name "up in lights," so to speak. Again, you can keep the board relevant to the season with different borders and colors. These embellishments can be easily purchased at local teacher- and office-supply stores.

    Clear-Cut Goals

    • Your bulletin board should be placed in a very prominent place for this particular motivational idea to work. Cover the back of the board with bright solid-color paper. On the paper, write or use die-cut letters to spell out your goals for the day or week. Sometimes just having the goals out there where everyone can see them is motivational. It is easy to lose sight of the goal when you are in the thick of something. Change the goals weekly so students or employees will be more likely to use the bulletin board as a source of information. If you don't change the goals, the board will soon be forgotten.
