Having an Asthma Attack Can Be Frightening, But it Doesn"t Have to Be

38
Having an asthma attack is no fun.
It can be scary, you will experience difficulty in breathing, maybe a feeling of weight on your chest.
It may feel as if you are about to die.
Dr Buteyko is a Russian pioneering medical physician.
He researched the background to asthma and discovered something totally different from mainstream thinking.
In a nutshell, his discovery was that you need quite high levels of carbon dioxide.
When these levels fall, it can be very serious, even life threatening.
So your body will go into emergency mode.
The best way to increase your carbon dioxide level is to limit the oxygen intake.
The best way to do this is to limit your breathing.
So your throat muscles may constrict, your airways may temporarily fill with fluid, anything to shut back the oxygen intake for a moment or two.
That's all.
Just a moment or two.
Then the carbon dioxide levels rise up again, and the emergency is passed.
No-one ever died from an asthma attack before cortisone was used to treat it.
One of the best ways of preventing further attacks is to practice daily, holding your breath.
Stop when it becomes uncomfortable.
But, each day, push for a little longer.
Until you can comfortably hold your breathe for a few minutes.
Then when you feel an attack might be coming on, hold your breath.
By you taking appropriate action, the attack is no longer needed.
This 'bush medicine' is so good, as it means you can do this anywhere, in any situation.
You will never be caught without the necessary means to achieve it.
By treating any asthma attack this way, you'll not experience any side effects and over time, they are likely to improve to the point of disappearing altogether.
