How to Make Flip-Flops Out of Fondant

31
    • 1). Sprinkle confectioner's sugar onto your work table. Scoop out a small wad of fondant onto the surface, approximately the size of a baby's fist.

    • 2). Roll the fondant out so it is completely flat. Press your oval shaped cookie cutters firmly into the fondant. Peel the two shapes out and away from the rest of the fondant.

    • 3). Trim bits of fondant away from the edges of each oval, to give it more of the curved shape along the sides that flip flops generally have. This will be the foot area of the flip flop.

    • 4). Cut a long strip of fondant, 1/2 inch wide out of the remaining fondant you flattened with a rolling pin. Roll this strip so you have a skinny snake shape.

    • 5). Cut two pieces from this snake that are the length of each flip flop. Fold them gently into "V" shapes. These will be the straps of the flip-flops.

    • 6). Break off the very tip from either end of a toothpick, leaving you with two tiny, tiny pieces of wood, each a fraction of an inch. Repeat this with two more toothpicks

    • 7). Lay the "V"shape onto each trimmed oval, lining them up just below the top edge. Press the top of the toothpick into the "V" tip and the oval shaped fondant, securing them together.

    • 8). Secure the ends of the straps in their proper place by sliding additional toothpick pieces into each one.
