Hibiscus Freeze Damage
Leaves
- The leaves of the hibiscus plants are the most susceptible to freeze damage, because they extend out from the plant. Hibiscus leaves that have been affected by frost appear very dark green to black and droopy. When the leaves die completely, they appear brown and brittle. Resist the temptation to remove these leaves until spring, because the hibiscus plant is already stressed and the wounds you create by removing the leaves will cause further stress.
