What"s New in Ford Hybrids?

18
Ford first garnered a spot on the grid in the automobile industry's rush to go green with their 2001 Ford Escape, the first compact crossover. Their 2004 Ford Escape hybrid was the first hybrid SUV to be in production. Ford has since discontinued the hybrid version of Escape in favor of their newest line of gas-electric 2013 C-Max Hybrid SE, C-Max Hybrid SEL and their first plug-in hybrid the C-Max Energi and their Ford Fusion hybrid.

The2013 Ford Escape has undergone more than just internal changes. The 2013 Ford Escape has shed its boxy SUV exterior for a sleeker European flavored style. The new Ford Escape is slightly heavier, longer, and roomier and has lower ground clearance. Fuel efficiency has been approved with this year's Ford Escape model and it is more aerodynamic. Amid the general consensus among car experts in the industry, that Ford's decision to stop production on a popular SUV hybrid is risky, Ford continues to produce 2013 gas-electric and full hybrids.

Innovation and technological at its latest is well integrated in the 2013 Ford C-Max SE. It boasts voice commands in Smartphone technology and innovative automatic parking capabilities. Ford's production of the C-Max hybrids was taken from its 2003 Ford Focus specs first produced in Europe. Called Ford's €dedicated hybrid€, this version of the C-Max gets EPA estimates of 47 mpg for city and highway driving, and reach speeds up to 62 mph when driven under its electric-drive capabilities. The C-Max Hybrid SEL gets the same 47 mpg highway and city driving, and the uses the same continuously variable transmission, yet is slightly more than the C-Max Hybrid SE. The highest priced C-Max is the C-Max Energi Hybrid, and like its cousins, it offers the foot-activated lift-gate and the flexible fold-flat second row seat. The illuminated charge port is just one of the user-friendly aspects of the C-Max Hybrid series.

The Ford Fusion Hybrid was toasted as the €Most fuel-efficient midsize sedan in America€ by Motor Trend in 2011, the Ford Fusion hybrid was also called €the most dependable midsize car€ by J.D. Power and Associates that same year. The New 2013 Ford Fusion has the new continuously variable transmission, found in other hybrids of its class, it boasts eight airbags and antilock brakes, which have a panic brake assist. Able to carry up to five passengers, this version of Ford Fusion gets 47 mpg both in city and highway driving. Powered by a lithium-ion battery, its 2.0 4 cylinder engine is gas-electric.

With so many die-hard Ford car enthusiasts, many of who are dedicated environmentalists, Ford is not about to let other auto manufacturers scramble to fill in that top coveted hybrid spot and steal their Ford customers. The 2013 Ford Escape will continue to hold its high place in the hearts of Ford lovers around the world, but as Ford hybrids go, the 2013 Ford C-Max Series and the 2013 Ford Fusion both promise to be nice hybrid gas-electric replacements, which will carry on the Ford hybrid fleet dynasty.
