How to Seal Pine for Painting
- 1). Brush a heavy coat of sanding sealer onto the surface of the pine. Avoid sealer drips if possible, but if it does drip don't worry about it. Let the sealer dry for one hour.
- 2). Sand over the sealer with a piece of 180 grit sandpaper in the palm of your hand. Sand until the surface of the pine is covered in fine white powder. If your sandpaper becomes clogged with sealer discard it and get a new piece.
- 3). Rub your fingers over the pine. If it feels soft and smooth it's ready to paint. If you can feel rough spots sand them again.
