Finding things to do in the summer holidays seems to be every mum's mission at the moment but have you thought about exploring your own back yard? It is a completely free activity and you don't even have to leave the comfort of your home! If you don't have a garden, your nearest park is just as good! It's time to stop worrying about doing extreme, expensive activities with your children.
Instead make up games that they can enjoy playing with you in your own garden.
Here are some great ideas: Nature Hunt List a number of bugs, birds, flowers and animals that are likely to be in your garden.
Start a Spotter's Guide and watch your children explore the flowerbeds and shrubs with a keen eye! Your children will love ticking off the list and learning about flowers and mini beasts! Study The Bugs Ask your children to search for bugs in the garden.
Once collected, your kids can study them and learn all about the different types of mini beasts that can be found in the garden.
They will be amazed! This is a great learning exercise and will help children to overcome any fears they may have about slugs and spiders! Make A Den Children love making dens, hideouts and tents.
Some sheets, boxes and a clothes airer make fantastic dens! If you make one big enough, the whole family could enjoy a picnic inside the den, which is great fun.
Let their imagination run wild: their den could become a rocket, a ship or a train! Recreate Sports Day Get the kids exercising by recreating a typical school sports day.
Running races, the egg and spoon race and the long jump are easy to re-enact.
You could create a family tournament with a prize for the winner at the end of the day! Anyone For Tennis? If you've the space, set up a mini tennis court with some string for the net! Children can spend the entire summer playing tennis in the back garden and you get pleasure from seeing them being active.
Often mums think they have to do extraordinary things to keep their children entertained but look at how many fun things can be done in your own back garden! We hope these ideas give you and your family the inspiration to have fun at home this summer! Start your journey today - achieve confidence, balance and joy.
