CeMAP Training and Company Sponsored Courses

3
CeMAP training is an excellent career boosting qualification, offering CeMAP qualified individuals greater earning potential, increased promotion opportunities and enhanced job satisfaction.
Because of this, in the past, some employers have paid for their staff to undertake the CeMAP training courses.
In these cases, the employers have usually insisted that the employees who take advantage of these CeMAP training courses sign contracts agreeing to repay to the company in part or in full, the cost of the CeMAP training course if they leave the company within a specified period of time.
This can amount to a substantial amount of money, and the employees can find themselves tied to the employer for up to three years if they want to avoid the penalty.
The recent trend is showing that more and more companies are now withdrawing this opportunity, instead relying on the staff members to pay for the CeMAP training themselves.
Our company received an e-mail recently saying that Northern Rock had now stopped providing CeMAP training to its employees.
If this is the case, then this is another example of a large company removing this training opportunity.
So where does this trend leave employees who are looking to complete their CeMAP training? In reality, many people feel that the company sponsored training route, while saving costs in the short term, may actually cost the employee dearly in the longer term.
The truth is that someone with the CeMAP qualification has an excellent earning potential in the job market, and there are more and more vacancies for mortgage advisers being advertised every week.
So once an individual has passed their CeMAP exams, the door is really open for an excellent opportunity to earn more money.
When an individual has undertaken the training under the company scheme, they are typically tied to the company for two or three years, during which period they are also tied to the salary package that the company deems suitable.
In many cases this means that the CeMAP qualified person is now earning considerably less money than they would be able to on the open job market.
When this loss of extra income is taken into account, the relatively small saving that someone would make by having the company pay for the CeMAP training is greatly out weighed by the loss of extra income available once they have the CeMAP qualification.
Often with company training schemes, the repayment cost can be two, three, or more times the cost that an individual would incur by enrolling in a CeMAP training course for themselves.
This extra cost is due to the fact that the company will usually insist on classroom training, which is inherently more expensive than a comprehensive and flexible CeMAP Home Study Course.
Because of this, many people are now training independently using comprehensive CeMAP training by distance learning so that they can study in their own time, at their own pace and without being tied to an employer once they have qualified.
This means that they are then free to pursue other avenues of employment once they have their CeMAP qualification or, of course, they can seek promotion or other opportunities within their current company.
The important message from all of this is that it is not necessarily a major problem if the employer does not pay for CeMAP training, in fact in many cases, having paid to obtain your CeMAP qualification yourself can give you greater freedom and open the door to many new and exciting opportunities that would otherwise not be available to you.
