• When originally released, "Halo: Combat Evolved" was groundbreaking in that it definitively proved shooters could work on consoles. In its PC incarnation, Halo proved itself as a capable PC shooter as well. If you are having a difficult time beating Halo, there are cheats you can use but first you will have to download the Halo Custom Edition expansion, if you haven't already, and make some changes to its shortcut.
  
  

Devmode

• Before you can use any cheats you will have to activate developer mode. To do this, right click on your Halo Custom Edition shortcut and click "Properties." Now, select the "Target" line under the Shortcut tab and add these parameters to the end of the line, outside the quotation mark, "-Screenshot -console -devmode." The entire target line should now read something like this, "'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition\haloce.exe' -Screenshot -console -devmode."
  
  Now you can access Halo through this shortcut and press the "~" key during gameplay in order to activate any of the cheat codes below. Just keep in mind that these codes are case-sensitive.
  
  

Spawn Cheats

• Most of "Halo: Combat Evolved" cheat codes involve spawning objects of one sort or another. The first cheat code, "Cheat_all_powerups" will spawn one of every kind of power-up, including active camouflage. The code "Cheat_all_weapons" will spawn one of every kind of weapon, from the plasma pistol to the rocket launcher. It's a shame you can only carry two of them at once.
  
  Make sure there's plenty of room before you use "Cheat_all_vehicles," which will spawn one of every kind of vehicle, including the massive rhino tank. You can also use the cheat code "Cheat_spawn_warthog" if the only vehicle you want is the humble warthog.
  
  

Ammunition Cheats

• These two cheats may be especially helpful for trigger-happy players. The first, "Cheat_infinite_ammo 1," gives you infinite ammunition, so you no longer have to worry about having to drop you favorite gun for want of ammo. The second cheat code, "Cheat_bottomless_clip 1," is ideal for players who prefer a run and gun style of play, as it eliminates the need to reload weapons or wait for them to cool down.
  
  Both of these cheats can be deactivated by repeating them with the number "0" at the end instead of "1."
  
  

Miscellaneous Cheats

• Of the remaining cheat codes, "Cheat_medusa 1" instantly kills any enemy who sees you, making the game much easier. The next cheat code, "Cheat_deathless_player 1" makes you invulnerable, so you can feel free to soak up all the bullets and plasma fire you want. The final cheat code, "Cheat_super_jump 1," allows you to jump incredibly high. You may want to use the invulnerability cheat before activating the super jump cheat; otherwise you might not survive the fall.
  
  Like the ammunition cheat codes, these cheats can also be disabled by reentering them with a "0" at the end instead of a "1."
