52
When we reach over 65 we have to expect that our body is going to experience some wear and tear.
The body reaches its prime around the latter part of our mid twenties and thirties.
Once we reach our forties the body slowly declines.
Our muscle mass and tissue begin to reduce.
The body's ability to burn calories and keep the weight off becomes less effective and efficient.
As we get older we have less energy than we did when we were in our early twenties.
This is part and parcel of growing old.
As the body gets older it also becomes more prone to diseases and chronic conditions.
The following are 2 common conditions that we can experience in old age.
Diabetes Diabetes is a very common condition and is responsible for many deaths.
The condition affects the functioning of the pancreas by causing a lack of insulin to be produced to help regulate and balance glucose in the blood.
There are common symptoms that are associated with diabetes.
These being very thirsty, urinating a lot, exhaustion and weight loss.
Diabetes has also a very strong link to the cause of blindness in many people.
There are two types of diabetes that people can get.
The first one is diabetes Type I and the second one is diabetes Type II.
Type I is often referred to as non insulin dependent.
Whereas type II is referred to as insulin dependent.
There are many people who have diabetes without ever knowing that they actually have it.
However, living a certain lifestyle can increase your risk such as being overweight.
Diabetes can also be inherited from other family members therefore, if there is a history of diabetes in the family this may increase the risk of getting the condition.
Back Pain It is estimated that if you walk into a doctors busy waiting room there will be at least one person waiting there to see that doctor about their back pain.
Back pain is very a common condition that can affect people at any age however, the likelihood of getting it increases as we get older.
In many cases back pain can be prevented by taking plenty of exercise that involves stretching.
It is also important to strengthen the back by working on the core abdominal muscles.
It is your abs that supports your back.
If your abdominals are weak you can increase your chances of back pain or a back injury.
Always seek a doctor's advice if you have a medical condition before doing any form of new exercise.
