How to Create a Professional Looking Member Directory for Your Church

57
    • 1). Set a date and time for all members to have their photographs taken. Publish the date and time in the church bulletin and newsletter. Post a notice on the church bulletin board. Announce the date with enough time for all members to see the notice and prepare. Provide a phone number for members to call and arrange their photo sessions.

    • 2). Type up information sheets for the members of the church to fill out. Include spaces for their names, addresses, home and cell phone numbers, email addresses, business information and church titles. Include a space to write the number of their photo from the digital media to ensure the right photo is placed with the right information.

    • 3). Take the photos with a digital camera and upload them to the computer where the directory will be saved.

    • 4). Design the member directory pages. Start a new document in Microsoft Word using a template for a member directory. Rearrange elements on the cover page to personalize the directory for your church. Add the information for your church including name, address and phone number on the cover. Prepare the directory pages. Enter the information provided by church members into the directory. Add the photos to the directory pages. Use the numbers you wrote on the information sheets to easily locate the photos.

    • 5). Print and bind the directories. Printing can be done on standard 8.5 x 11 paper or on special 17 x 11 paper that can be folded in half. The size of the paper depends on the method of binding you intend to use. Color paper can be used for a personalized touch.

    • 6). Write the CDs using the software that came installed on the computer or that came with the CD writer. Typically when you place a blank CD in the drive a box will pop up asking if you wish to write a CD. Select the member directory file and click "Burn." Label the CD.
