    Drivetrain

    • The base-level engine offered in the Commander was a 3.7-liter V-6 that produced 210 horsepower and 235 foot-pounds of torque. The mid-level 4.7-liter V-8's power increased by 70 horsepower for the 2008 model year, bringing its total output to 305 horsepower and 334 foot-pounds of torque. The top-of-the-line engine offered was a 5.7-liter V-8 that generated 330 horsepower and 375 foot-pounds of torque. A choice of rear- or four-wheel drive was offered across all trim levels and engine options, and all models featured a four-speed automatic transmission.

    Sport

    • The entry-level Commander was the Sport model and targeted those who desired the cavernous cabin space of the vehicle but wanted only the most basic amenities. The 3.7-liter V-6 was standard equipment on the Commander Sport, while the 4.7-liter V-8 was optional. This trim level offered a choice of seating for five or seven. Air conditioning, power accessories, rear-parking assist, heated mirrors, a CD player and 17-inch wheels were standard on the Commander Sport.

    Limited

    • The Commander Limited was fitted with the 4.7-liter V-8 engine as standard equipment and with the 5.7-liter V-8 as an option. The Limited trim level was only offered with the third-row seating option and featured a plethora of luxury items as standard equipment. Jeep equipped the Commander Limited with a standard rear-backup camera, rain sensing wipers, a dual-zone climate control, a satellite ratio, power adjustable pedals, leather seats, heated front seats, an iPod and auxiliary connection, a MyGIG entertainment system and a sunroof with second-row skylight.

    Overland

    • The top-of-the-line Commander Overland was exclusively powered by the 5.7-liter V-8 engine. The Overland featured all of the standard equipment from the Limited model, but added Bluetooth connectivity, a MyGIG with built-in navigation system and power rear lift-gate for easy cargo accessibility. Jeep outfitted the exclusive Overland model with larger 18-inch rims, while its interior featured two-tone leather seats, adding a distinguished look to its spacious passenger cabin.
