• An authentic Country Western dance club, Gilley's Dallas is a local favorite and a must see for many visitors. While the original Gilley's Dallas, the setting for the film "Urban Cowboy," burned down in 1989, the current establishment offers a large dance floor and stage for local and touring country bands.
  
  The cover is relatively inexpensive, attracting a very mixed crowd from early 20s to senior citizens, and they all hit the dance floor. Food is only a short walk away at the Studio Bar & Grill down the street. And yes, there is a mechanical bull to ride.

The Zubar

• Whether out for a night on the town with a small group or looking to dance with a friendly stranger, The Zubar is a classic venue with nightly dance parties. Located in lower Greenville, the space features swanky decor, vaulted ceilings, outdoor patio seating, and two separate rooms with full bars and room for dancing in each.
  
  The relatively small dance floors and higher drink prices are offset by the venue's reputation for supporting the music scene, as it books both up-and-coming acts and internationally known artists. Between dances, patrons enjoy plenty of seating, weekday happy hours that start the party early, and rotating artwork on the walls.

Lizard Lounge

• In the Deep Ellum district of Dallas, the Lizard Lounge is often referred to as an alternative nightclub. The space has a glamorous ambiance that includes a rooftop deck with a DJ station. Local bands play on weekends, with internationally known DJs spinning neo gothic, industrial and electronic music between and after sets.
  
  The rocker and goth crowd skews younger because the club lets in people under 21, stamping the hands of only those over 21. With nightly themes and specials on colorful drinks and cheap beer, the Lizard Lounge maintains a strong following of loyal locals.
