How to Troubleshoot a Telus Wireless Modem
- 1). Shut down your computer and reboot your wireless modem, or gateway, by pressing the "On" button --- located on the back of the modem --- to turn it off. Leave your wireless modem and your computer off for about 10 seconds, then turn them back on and try to re-establish a connection.
- 2). Check the range and placement of your wireless modem --- too many walls or ceilings can limit broadcast of the signal.
- 3). Position your modem, if possible, near open doorways and drywall. This will allow the signal to pass through easily. Avoid positioning your modem near metallic objects (such as door frames) or concrete walls --- concrete is reinforced with steel.
- 4). Position the modem's antenna(e) upward for better reception.
- 5). Keep your modem away from electrical devices like monitors, computer speakers and electric motors that generate radio frequency (RF) noise.
- 1). Click the "Start" button and "Network" link from the Navigation menu.
- 2). Click the "Network Sharing Center" link from the top menu of the Network screen, then click the "Manage Network Connections" link.
- 3). Right-click the icon that represents your "Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL)" and select "Properties" from the drop-down menu.
- 4). Click the "IPv4 Entry" and the "Properties" button.
- 5). Click the "Obtain an IP address automatically" check box and then the "OK" button to save the changes and exit the dialogue box.
