How Do I Forgive My Wife?
- 1). Examine the issue or issues that you and your wife are dealing with. Before you can approach the subject and start to mend your relationship, you need to have a good handle on what exactly the problem is and how you've both contributed to it. Get to the root of the problem before you try to fix it.
- 2). Forgive yourself first. While you may have resentment and anger towards your wife, you may also be experiencing feelings of guilt and remorse as well. For example, if you've found out that your wife has been having an affair, you are probably furious with her, but you also may be wondering what you've done wrong.
- 3). Focus on just one problem at a time. While there may be several issues that you have to forgive, you'll overwhelm yourself if you try to juggle every problem at once. Pick one problem and start there. Work on forgiving your wife for one thing before moving on to the next. If you two get into a conversation, try to not bring up the long list of grievances - this will be nearly impossible to work through all at once.
- 4). Remember that your relationship is the sum of all of the time you and your wife have been together, not just of the problems and wrongdoings that have occurred. Look at the overall picture and put things in perspective. Reminisce over the good times and try to create new, lasting, positive memories that will move you forward in your relationship.
