How to Check a Balance Online
- 1). Gather your account number and the telephone number for the company who holds your account. This information can be found on a previous bank statement or on your credit or debit card.
- 2). Check your previous billing statement for the company’s website. If you cannot locate this information on your statement, call the company to find out if they offer online services to their customers. If so, ask for the specific website address that will allow your to access your account.
- 3). Sign up for an online account with the company if you have not done so already. To create an account you will need to enter your name, account number, address and email address into the website’s secure account creation application. This application is usually prominently displayed on the company’s homepage. You will also be asked to enter a user name and password of your choice that you will use when you log into your account in the future.
- 4). Log into your account with the user name and password that you selected. If you have forgotten or misplaced your password, you can click on the “Forget Password” option and the company will email the information to the email address tat they have on file. Once you log into the account you will see several options such as “Account Summary”, “Transactions”, and “Bill Pay”, depending upon your account type. Select the “Account Summary” or “Account Balance” option to view your current balance.
- 5). Select the “Transactions” option to view items that have been credited or debited to your account. For example, it often takes a day or two for credit card transactions to post to an account. If you have made purchases with your card and do not see them listed in the “Transactions” section, you should mentally deduct the amount of the purchase from your available credit.
