    • Toyota's 2010 Tacoma personal pickup is essentially the same as the 2009 model year. It is branded the Tacoma in the North American market, and the Hilux outside of North America. Toyota also produces the Tundra in 2010 as a full-size pickup truck with a larger engine and cargo capacity. Both trucks received a five-star rating for driver and passenger front impacts. The Tacoma received a four-star rollover rating and the Tundra a three-star rating.

    Power

    • Toyota's 2010 trucks feature rear-wheel and four-wheel drive with either a 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine or a 4-liter six-cylinder engine on the Tacoma, or a 4-liter six-cylinder engine or 4.6 and 5.7-liter eight cylinder engines on the Tundra. The Tacoma six-cylinder engine is only available on the extended- and double-cab models. All three engines are available on all Tundra models. The four-cylinder engine is in an inline-four configuration, the six-cylinder and eight-cylinder engines are in a V configuration. The engines range from 159 to 381 horsepower, sustain payloads of 1,435 to 1,555 pounds and tow 3,500 to 10,100 pounds.

    Fuel Economy

    • Toyota's 2010 trucks' fuel economy depends on engine, weight and features. The rear-wheel-drive base model with a 2.7-liter engine is capable of 22 miles per gallon. The four-wheel-drive model with a 2.7-liter engine achieves 18 mpg. The top-of-the-line Tacoma model with crewmax cab and four-wheel drive has a 17-mpg rating. The top-of-the-line Tundra model with double cab, four-wheel drive and 5.7-liter eight-cylinder engine achieves 15 mpg.

    Other Features

    • The regular cab 2010 Toyota Tacoma extends 190.4 inches long, 74.6 inches wide and 69.9 high, with a curb weight of 3,665 pounds. The Tundra is all around larger and extends 209.8 inches, 79.9 inches wide, and 76.2 inches high, with a curb weight of 5,005 pounds. The Tacoma extended-cab model is heavier at 3,955 pounds and 208.1 inches long, and the Tundra's is 5,385 pounds and 228.7 inches long. The Tacoma double cab is 221.3 inches with the long cargo bed. The Tundra crewmax cab is the longest at 228.7 inches. On both trucks, the regular cab has two doors, the extended-access cab has two full-size doors and two half doors, while the double and crewmax cabs has four doors. The trucks seat three to six people depending on cab size.
