Expensive Brick and Mortar

The first point here is the most important one-the when it comes to job security, the only security is self employment.
If you work for anyone other than yourself, you should be planning right now for the potential of losing your job.
The writing is on the wall-about as clearly as it can be-and to ignore is to literally lie to yourself.
The facts are clear and getting clearer.
Unemployment is at a 25 year high, right now at 9%.
Astounding as that figure is, it will continue to rise for the foreseeable future.
Everyone who still has a job figures out a way to rationalize why that job is safe.
New employees think it's because they make less than more senior employees and will be able to avoid getting cut on that basis.
More senior people believe that their expertise guarantees them a job.
Both arguments are valid-and both are wrong.
If there's a pink slip in Personnel with your name on it, kiss your job goodbye.
So if self employment is the way to go, how does one get started? Let's look at available options.
The most basic question is whether to start a more or less conventional brick-and-mortar business, working for someone else out of an office or a store, or an online business that YOU can operate from the comfort of your own home.
Clearly the biggest barriers in starting an offline, brick-and-mortar business are the startup costs.
If you are starting a business that requires you to work from an office, unless you plan on seeing clients or customers in the office, you'd be better off starting from home.
But if you require an office outside of the home, even if you rent it for a thousand dollars or so month, you'll also need to acquire a phone system, equipment and furniture, not to mention décor items.
If you're planning to start a retail business, your costs will be even greater, particularly when you factor in the cost of your initial inventory, and payroll expenses.
The bottom line is that the startup costs for an offline brick-and-mortar business can get out of hand very quickly.
Finding self employment through an online business will still require some startup capital as well, but not nearly as much.
Working from home you'll of course need a computer and internet access.
To really jumpstart your business, consider buying a turnkey "business in a box" that enables you to get up and running quickly.
It's really pretty simple.
Finding self employment through an online business is an effective, foolproof way to finding lasting job security.
