Goose Hunting in the Texas Panhandle
- Regardless of age, all Texas Panhandler goose hunters must obtain a hunting license, which is available for purchase online at the Texas Parks and Wildlife website.
- In the Texas Panhandle's Western Goose- Hunting Zone, the fall, winter and spring goose-hunting season is announced annually in the fall on the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife website. Seasons vary based on youth, archery and regular gun goose hunting.
- Texas Panhandler goose hunters may retain only 20 light geese, four Canada geese and one white-front goose per day. The respective per season possession limit for Canada geese and white-fronted geese is eight and two, while light geese do not have a per season limit.
- The Texas Panhandle region occupies two Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs), which are open for public goose hunting during the hunting season. The Gene Howe and Matador WMA are 5,394 and 28,183 acres, respectively, and provide plenty of areas for goose hunting.
