How Can I Play Monopoly?

45
    • 1). Prepare the game. Every player will need $1500 of monopoly money divided into two 500 dollar bills, two 100s, two 50s, six 20s, five 10s, five 5s and five 1s. One player will need to be the banker in charge of distributing and managing money and one player will need to be in charge of property cards. Place the "Community Chest" and "Chance" cards on their respective places on the board. Every player should role the dice and the highest role goes first.

    • 2). Roll both the dice to advance around the board. You may not purchase any properties until you have passed "Go" one time. Collect $200 every time you pass the Go spot on the board. Subsequently, when you land on a property, you can buy it by paying the amount listed on the board and receive a property card. If a property is already owned by a player, you must pay that person the rent amount listed on the property card. Properties are arranged together and color-coded. Double the amount payed if a player owns all the properties which share a color. Follow the rules listed on a "Chance" or "Community Chest" card and on any non-property spots. Nothing happens if a player lands on "Free Parking."

    • 3). Go to jail if you roll doubles three times, get the appropriate card or land on the "Go to Jail" spot. Once in jail, you will need to roll doubles, pay $50 or use a "Get Out of Jail Free" card. After 3 turns of attempting to roll doubles, you must pay $50 or use a card.

    • 4). Purchase houses and hotels for the amount listed on the property cards. You must own all the properties that share a color and you must build evenly placing one house on every property before you can place a second one. Once you have built four houses on a property, you can upgrade to a hotel. Each house and hotel will dramatically increase the amount of money players will have to pay when they land on that property.

    • 5). Mortgage your properties for the amount of money listed on a card if you lack enough money to pay rent. The game finishes either when all but one player has gone bankrupt or when a pre-designated time limit has been reached. In the latter case, all players total the amount of money and properties owned. When a player is unable to pay the bank back, even by mortgaging properties, that player loses and their properties are auctioned to the remaining players.
