How to Apply for Medicare in Pennsylvania

    • 1). Access the Social Security Administration's online application site to apply for Medicare in Pennsylvania.

    • 2). Select the radio button for "I am applying for myself" and check the "I have read the Privacy Act Statement" box in the "To Start The Application Process" panel. Also select the radio button indicating whether you are blind or have visited the "Internet Special Notices Option" page.

    • 3). Click "Apply for Benefits" to advance to the next page.

    • 4). Enter your personal information. You are required to provide your name, Social Security number and date of birth.

    • 5). Enter additional information about yourself. You need to provide your address, contact information and email address. If you currently have medical coverage, provide information about your policy.

    • 6). Apply for other benefits, such as Social Security benefits, while applying for Medicare by checking the corresponding boxes.

    • 7). Review your information. Check the information you entered for accuracy. If you notice any errors, use the "Previous" button to go back and make corrections.

    • 8). Submit your application. Click "Submit" to have your application processed.

    • 9). Wait for your Medicare card. If the information you submitted is correct and additional information is not needed, you should receive your Medicare card in the mail.
