How to Hook Up 3.5Mm Cable Plugs to a Computer for Audio Devices
- 1). If you want to record, plug the male 3.5mm end of the cable into the microphone port. If you want to export sound to an outside device, plug the 3.5mm end into the speaker port (or headphones port if you are using a laptop computer).
- 2). Plug the RCA ends of the cable (red and white) into the "Audio Out" port of the device if you want to record onto your computer. This device can be a tape or CD player. If you want to export the sound from the computer plug the RCA cables into the "Audio In" port on the external device.
- 3). Power on the external device. Press the "Aux" button on the device if you are sending the audio signal from the computer. However, if you are recording with the computer, leave the external device as it is.
