From Terrorist to Pirates, Did President Obama Make the Right Decision to Use Force?
Did the newly elect president score points with the right wing? They screamed during the campaign that if we got into a situation that could mean war he wouldn't be able to handle it.
I wonder if Sean Hannity the paid republican talking head or Rush Limbaugh the entertainer will have anything good to say.
I doubt it, very seriously, and I don't think Obama like most Americans would even really care.
On one hand, the benefit for Obama is that it showed his style of leadership and because of the out come he looks like a hero without saying or doing much in the public eye.
The whole event was down played and it was starting to look like America was on a different course to start negotiations with Pirates.
This to most people would have looked like we were negotiating with terrorist even though we are calling them pirates now.
The media is trying to get the President to buy into the whole hero thing and how the quick decision he made, saved the life of the crew and the captain.
The reality is a very brave Captain negotiated the freedom of his crew and risked his own life.
This makes the President no more a hero than George Bush for heroic acts of the passengers on the planes during the 911 attacks.
The President trusted a military that has the capability and the technology to just about destroy any nation on the face of the earth.
We are talking about the navy seals, they do not play, and everyone who has been in the military or knows anything about national security will tell you the Navy Seals are among our most respected group when it comes to taking people out.
I don't know how much good this will do but I know it won't look bad to those who buy into the fear tactics this country uses to control its citizens.
The war and attacks on so-called terrorist has worked well for Republicans like Ronald Reagan who made the statement famous "we don't negotiate with terrorist".
It also worked well for his protégé President Bush Sr.
and his Son President George Bush Jr.
The out come has not been the same for Democrats.
When President Jimmy Carter rolled out his plan against terrorist it went so bad it cost him his next term.
The same thing happened with Bill Clinton, if you ever saw the movie Black Hawk down you know what I am talking about.
I don't know, maybe this is a new turn for the Democratic Party.
I guess its all in a name pirates not terrorist are who we are fighting now.
The news of over 200 more ships being held hostage from countries all over the world are now a new concern and probably shows how negotiations and talking might have been best in the long run now that the terrorist, I mean pirates, are threatening revenge on all U.
S.
ships in the region.
The talk from pirates now is to not negotiate, but to execute hostages when pressure is put on them.
Looks like, to me, that it is the same game different name, different President different party but same old America.
We can not forget we were the first terrorist and pirates.
We have robbed all these countries of there natural resources and riches.
One day if we do not master non-violence as taught by Dr.
Martin Luther king we will be quoting Malcolm X "Chickens coming home to roost never made me sad always made me glad.
" Can we afford to keep acting like we played no parts in the poverty of countries like Somalia, Iraq and Afghanistan? Will we one day address the truth of how we worked with and helped Osama Bin Laden and Sadam Hussein to rob other countries and kill there own citizens.
How long can America sit in there glass house and throw stones at everyone else.
I didn't vote for Obama because he was a Black man I voted for change.
This to me looks like business as usual.
Until truth prevails my eyes will be watching.
