How to Access the DOS Prompt at Computer Start Up
- 1). Turn on the computer.
- 2). Press the "F8" function key on the top row of the keyboard repeatedly prior to the Windows program startup.
- 3). Click on the option to "Start in Safe Mode with DOS prompt."
- 1). Turn on the computer.
- 2). Wait for Windows XP to load.
- 3). Click on the "Start" button. Hover over the "All Programs" button.
- 4). Hover over the "Accessories" button. Click on the "Command Prompt" button. The "Command Prompt" is a limited access "DOS Prompt."
- 1). Turn on the computer.
- 2). Press the "F8" function key on the top row of the keyboard repeatedly prior to Windows XP loading.
- 3). Click on the "Start in Safe Mode with Command Prompt" button.
- 1). Turn on the computer. Wait for the Windows operating system to load.
- 2). Click on the "Start" button.
- 3). Click on the "Run" button.
- 4). Type in "CMD" or "Command" in the text box. Press the "Enter" button.
