Healthy Uses for Vinegar

13
    • Vinegar is the product of two biochemical processes, alcoholic fermentation and acid fermentation. The first process converts natural sugars into alcohol, and the second turns that alcohol into acid. Vinegar acquires its smell and taste as well as its unique medicinal properties through these processes. When we proclaim the health benefits of vinegar, apple cider vinegar deserves the most accolades.

    Warts

    • Before bed, dip a cotton ball in pure, unpasteurized apple cider vinegar (ACV). Place the cotton ball on top of the wart, and affix it with a Band-Aid. Remove the covering the next morning. While you may continue to cover the wart all day, you should replace the cotton ball dipped in ACV a few times during the day. After a week of treatment, the vinegar should remove the wart. The wart will probably swell, throb and turn black during the course of treatment.

    Acid Reflux

    • Mix 2 tsp. ACV with 16 oz. of water, and sip it until it's gone. Repeat three times a day. This practice should keep reflux flare-ups from happening. If you are already struggling with severe acid reflux, increase the amount of ACV to taste, and reduce the amount of water. Find the ratio that works best for your body.

    Bacteria, Yeast and Fungal Growth

    • Taken regularly (2 tsp. to 8 oz. of water three times a day), ACV will help lower the blood's natural alkalinity and bring it to a healthier, more acidic state. This will inhibit the growth of unhealthy bacteria, yeast and fungi.

    Gout

    • Many people are trying alternative treatments for gout rather than the traditional medicinal treatments that often have uncomfortable side effects. You can treat gout with vinegar one of three ways. Soak the affected joint in a mixture of ACV and water (one part to three parts), or use it topically to treat gout by soaking a rag in undiluted ACV and then wrapping it around the affected area for 15 minutes. Some gout patients mix 1 tbsp. of ACV, raw honey and distilled water together and drink that twice a day. While the amounts vary from person to person, the key ingredient is apple cider vinegar.

    Other Claims

    • In addition, there are many other claims about the health benefits of ACV. Among them are its ability to lower blood pressure, heal respiratory infections, reduce fatigue, stop diarrhea, lower cholesterol, cure headaches, soothe bee stings, jellyfish stings and sunburn, relieve arthritis pain and ease menstrual cramps.
