Brown Mackie College Grants
- Students attending Brown Mackie College may be eligible for several federal grants awarded on the basis of financial need. The federal Pell Grant is awarded on the basis of income, and is available to most students who demonstrate financial need. The Federal Academic Competitiveness Grant may be available to freshmen and sophomore students, while the SMART Grant may be available to juniors and seniors studying subject areas related to math and science. In addition, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants may be available to students with exceptional financial need. To apply for these opportunities, visit the Office of Financial Aid at your Brown Mackie College campus and obtain a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- Students attending some Brown Mackie College locations may be eligible for state-sponsored grants. For example, students attending the Fort Wayne campus in Indiana may be eligible for need-based grant support through the Frank O'Bannon Grant Program or the 21st Century Scholars Program. Students attending in Akron, Cincinnati or Findlay, Ohio, may qualify for the Ohio Instructional Grant. Students in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, should apply for the College Access Program Grant. Award amounts for these state grants are calculated on the basis of income and need, and also require that an applicant submit a FAFSA each year.
- If you are disabled--either physically or mentally--and it has prevented you from obtaining employment, the admissions office at your Brown Mackie College campus may be able to assist you in obtaining state grant funding. Vocational rehabilitation grants are granted through state agencies, and eligibility requirements and application procedures vary by state. Your admissions representative will be able to help you navigate the application procedure for your state.
- In addition to helping students apply for state and federal grants, many branches of Brown Mackie College offer the Presidential Scholarship to graduating seniors at local high schools who plan to attend. To be eligible, a student must have a GPA of at least 2.0 on a scale of 4.0 (a "C" average). This scholarship is valued at $1,000 as of 2011. If you plan to attend Brown Mackie College, ask your high school guidance counselor for a scholarship application.
