How to Assemble a Wooden Pot Rack
- 1). Drill a hole, using a 5/8-inch drill bit, 1/2-inch deep in the center of one 36-inch-long 2-by-4, 6 inches from its end. Drill four more holes, 6 inches apart and 1/2-inch deep, using the same procedure. Leave 6 inches at the end of the 2-by-4. Repeat this same process for your second 36-inch-long 2-by-4.
- 2). Align one of the 18-inch-long 2-by-4s to one of the 36-inch-long 2-by-4s, with the drilled holes facing inward. Screw the shorter board to the longer one, using your drill and wood screws. This forms the first section of the pot rack rectangle. Repeat the process, screwing together the last two boards to make the second section of the pot rack.
- 3). Place a few drops of glue into each of the predrilled holes in the first section of the pot rack. Place a dowel into each hole and press down firmly. Let it set for five minutes.
- 4). Place glue into each hole in the second section of the pot rack. Turn both pot rack sections so the predrilled holes face each other, forming a rectangle. Align the dowels so that they fit in the predrilled holes on both sides of the pot rack. Press both sides together slowly and firmly so the dowels move completely into the holes on both sides of the pot rack. Screw the two sections of the pot rack together with wood screws and your drill.
- 5). Screw an eye hook into each of the corners on the top of the pot rack. Use an S hook to attach a chain to each eye hook.
- 6). Move your stud finder along the ceiling to find the studs. Mark them with a pencil. Screw four eye hooks into the ceiling studs, aligning their spacing to match the eye hooks on the pot rack. Use an S hook to attach each of the four chains to the four eye hooks in the ceiling. Place two S hooks on each dowel on your pot rack. Hang your pots from the hooks.
