Motorcycle Safety Training Requirements for the Navy
- According to PilotOnline, the Navy began a motorcycle training program due to the number of deaths of sailors in motorcycle accidents. In 2008, the "Naval Safety Center joined forces last fall with the Motorcycle Safety Foundation." Thanks to this partnership, it is required for Navy riders to take motorcycle training courses as a part of their service.
- This is a course that the Navy created for experienced military sports riders. Only riders with the proper endorsement or license can take part in the course. The course is designed to help experienced riders learn to hone their skills in corners, braking, swerving and risk management.
- This course is for riders who are not experienced. It combines classroom work as well as time on the motorcycle course. The participants of the course can use motorcycles provided by the course givers or ride their own. At the end of the course, the rider will receive a skill evaluation and a test which evaluates what they have learned.
- This course is meant as a refresher for those riders who have experience. Driving skills, shifting, braking and other skills will be reviewed.
