Funding

• Mini-grants funding ranges from $500 to $5,000. Funding is provided to eligible applicants on a first-come, first-serve basis. Priority is given to programs that involve farmers, non-profit organizations and agencies, and regional or multi-county groups as part of an educational program. Applicants must provide matching funds from sources such as other grants, funds appropriated for the purpose of matching the grant or fundraising fees. Mini-grant funds are for expenses related to providing a farm educational program and can include the booking of facilities, guest speakers and related logistics.
  
  

Application

• Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis, but should be submitted at least two months prior to the anticipated start date of the project. Applicants must submit project proposals electronically. As of July 2011, submission information is provided in the Ohio State University Mini-Grant Program for Local Extension Programs guide, available on the OSU extension website. Proposals should include a short overview of how environmental, economic or social sustainability issues are addressed by the project, a proposed agenda and budget.
  
  

Additional Requirements

• Grant recipients must list the North Central Regional Sustainable Agriculture Research & Education as the project sponsor, and include the SARE logo on the project agenda and all related communication materials, as appropriate. Grant recipients must complete a project report to receive full payment of the grant. The project report includes an overview of the number of the participants who took part in the activity and a description of overall project outcomes.
