Do Peruvians Like Americans?

Question: Do Peruvians Like Americans?

Answer:

If you hail from the good ole U.S. of A., you might be wondering about your reputation -- and your reception -- in Peru.

I’m English, so I’ll say all this as a neutral observer. Peruvians bear no ill feelings toward Americans (those of the northern variety, in this case), so you’re highly unlikely to meet with any anti-U.S. sentiment. At the same time, don’t expect any great fanfare upon your arrival.

In most cases, Peruvians will treat you in the same way as they would treat any other foreign tourist (like the English or Australian's, for example).
That's one of the many good things about Peru -- the generally relaxed attitude to other nationalities.
Note: Peruvians often refer to foreigners as gringos (especially if they are light-skinned) rather than by any country-specific label. Despite some claims to the contrary, gringo is not usually used in a hostile way. My neighbors call me gringo (or gringito) all the time. It doesn't bother me at all, although some of my gringo friends don't like the label at all!
