Know The Ugly Truths That Surround Domestic Violence

20
In social circles, beliefs and cultural upbringing has a role in the way people perceive domestic violence. There are cultures where it is forbidden to hit a woman. In some, a woman is not allowed to raise her hand on a man. Taking responsibility is important, so when a fight breaks out, one of them should own up to it and take the blame. It will be the female party who will be taking this action. There are a number of cultures where a wife is understood to always remain in a submissive role and constantly defer to her husband. Since their culture dictates it to be so, these women choose to stomach being maltreated and suffering from domestic violence. It is also seen by the husbands as their right to inflict some pain on their wives in order to show them who is really the one in control in the relationship.

There are a number of cases that demonstrate certain degrees of mental imbalance and incapacity within the parties involved. If you look at some of the abused, you will see that many of them are actually looking for reasons-any reason-to fight with their spouse. They view fighting as an affirmation for the feelings of love and affection, and they actually find pleasure in the act of fighting. They think a relationship that is devoid of any fight is not a relationship at all. Meanwhile, abusers are found to derive great satisfaction from the act of fighting. True, they love their wives or spouse, but that does not mean they are not willing to hurt them. After all, violence is already in their nature, having a close sense of affinity to acts of violence and bloodshed. Such statics about domestic violence have been used in court as substantive reasons why an accused batter his or her spouse and they walk free.

This social problem is also greatly influenced by legal implications. Often, there isn't a lot of support when it comes to cases of domestic violence, not even if the police and other legal institutions do step in to try to help. Often, investigations into such crimes just come to a stop when there are not enough injuries to sustain it and the victims seemingly lose interest in pursuing the case. Even the legal approach to domestic violence is not at all decisive. For instance, in America, these cases are never put on record, and the victim will fail to appear anywhere even if the abuser is found guilty and sentenced to do time behind bars.

Many cases of domestic violence will never see the light of day, and forever remain in the dark. This is especially true in close-knit families who keep things close to their chests. The unexpected outcomes in such instances will be of an abuser who portrays a deep love and protection for his or her family, a bit silent in nature, but exudes a friendly aura. Sure, people might feel thoroughly disturbed and shocked when they discover his 'duplicity', but neither are they willing to treat the problem seriously. It is a private family matter, and they have no right to butt in. This is the ugly fact about domestic violence.
