Daily Pediatric Caloric Requirement
- Infants need at least 650 calories a day from birth to the age of five months. From five to 12 months, an average of 850 calories per day is ideal. From one year old to two years old, the child should consume 1,300 calories daily.
- According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, children aged two to three should consume 1,000 calories a day if sedentary. Active children should consume up to 1,400 calories a day.
- A girl aged four to eight should consume 1,200 to 1,800 calories a day, depending on her activity level. A boy should consume 1,400 to 2,000 calories, also depending on his activity level.
- Between the ages of nine and 13, a girl should consume 1,600 to 2,200 calories a day. A boy should consume 1,800 to 2,600 calories.

From ages 14 to 18, boys should consume between 2,200 calories (if sedentary) and 3,200 calories (if active) every day. Girls should consume 1,800 to 2,400 calories.
