Microsoft Access 2007 Compatibility
- Access 2007 was introduced at the same time as the ACCDB file format. Previous versions of Microsoft Access used the MDB file format. If your database was created in a version of Access prior to 2007, it can be opened by 2007, but any database created with the ACCDB extension cannot be edited with earlier versions.
- As of November 2010, the current Microsoft Access release is Access 2010. The file format ACCDB introduced with 2007 is still being used. This means that you can open and edit in Access 2010 files created with Access 2007.
- System requirements for Access are the same for all other Office components in the same release. For 2007, you need to run Windows XP with the latest service pack or later operating system, have at least 1.5 gigabytes of free disk space and 256 megabytes of RAM.
