How to Make a Frog Lure

22
    • 1). Cut the 1/2-inch-diameter dowel rod into a 2-inch-long segment with the hacksaw.

    • 2). Sand one end of the dowel into a 1/2-inch cone for the head. Sand the other end into smaller dome-shape for the tail.

    • 3). Use needle-nosed pliers to twist a small ring-eye into the nose of the frog for your line attachment. Attach one ring-eye underneath for the hook attachment. Attach two ring-eyes on each side -- near the rear -- for leg attachments.

    • 4). Untwist the ring eyes and temporarily remove them.

    • 5). Mix a small amount of epoxy according to the directions. Dip the screw-pin of the ring-eye into the epoxy.

    • 6). Twist the ring-eye back into place. Allow the epoxy to fully cure.

    • 7). Cut four 1-inch sections of 1/4-inch-diameter dowel for leg sections.

    • 8). Attach ring eyes to both ends of each 1/4-inch dowel in the same manner used for the body.

    • 9). Paint the body and leg pieces of the frog. Use shades of yellow or white for the underside, and green and black for the top. Use black paint for the eyes, mouth and spots.

    • 10

Attach two leg segments to each other with small split-rings.

    • 11

Attach the leg segments to the body.

    • 12

Cut the rubber bands in half. Thread them through the remaining ring eyes on the legs, and tie them off.

    • 13

Trim away the rubber bands to leave five 1/4-inch-long toes.

    • 14

Spray the entire frog with several coats of gloss-enamel spray paint. Allow the paint to cure for 24 hours after the final coat.

    • 15

Attach a treble hook to the bottom of the frog with a split ring.
